Discover the ultimate northern Morocco route over 5 days / 4 nights. Start in Tangier with visits to Cape Spartel and Hercules Caves, then travel through the Rif Mountains to the blue city of Chefchaouen. Continue to the historic UNESCO ruins of Volubilis and the ancient medina of Fes. Journey west to explore Rabat, Morocco’s coastal capital, before concluding your tour in the vibrant red city of Marrakech.
On the first day of your 5 days tour, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, famously known as “The Bride of the North.” Located in the northwest corner where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, Tangier offers incredible coastal charm.
We begin with a driving tour to explore the legendary Hercules Caves and the stunning Cape Spartel lighthouse. Free time for lunch by the ocean. Afterward, we drive inland through Tetouan and cross the scenic Rif Mountains, stopping along the route to enjoy panoramic views. In the late afternoon, we arrive in the blue-washed town of Chefchaouen. Overnight stay in an authentic Riad.
After breakfast, spend your day immersing yourself in Chefchaouen, historically known as “Chaouen” (meaning horns in Berber). Nestled deep within the Rif Mountains, this picturesque town is celebrated worldwide for its soothing blue-and-white painted houses and cobblestone pathways.
Accompanied by your guide, you will stroll through the charming old Medina, admiring the iconic blue doors, craft workshops, and lively local squares. Enjoy free time for lunch in Outa el-Hammam square. In the late afternoon, take a scenic hike up toward the Spanish Mosque, perched on a hill offering a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire blue city at sunset. Overnight stay in the same Riad.
Enjoy a quiet morning wandering through the serene alleyways of Chefchaouen before we depart south toward the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Volubilis features remarkably intact mosaics, ancient pillars, and historic arches that tell the story of North Africa’s ancient history.
Next, we head to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial capitals. We’ll stop to admire the magnificent Bab Mansour gate, the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, and the impressive Sahrij Swani basin. In the late afternoon, we continue our journey across the fertile plains to Fes. Check-in and overnight stay in a traditional Riad.
We’ll pick you up from your Riad in Fes after breakfast to begin your immersive exploration of one of Morocco’s most iconic imperial cities — Fes, the country’s cultural and spiritual heart.
Your journey starts with a driving tour. First, we’ll stop at the magnificent Royal Palace Gate, followed by a visit to “The Mellah”, the historic Jewish Quarter. Then, enjoy breathtaking views from the Borj Sud fortress, offering a stunning overlook of the ancient Medina. The final stop of this portion is the Ceramic Village & School, where you’ll witness traditional craftsmanship in action.
Next, a walking tour, step back in time as you enter the medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved historic towns in the Arab world. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, you’ll explore highlights such as the Al Attarine Madrasa, the University and Mosque of Al Quaraouiyine — considered the oldest existing university in the world — and the colorful Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed using centuries-old methods. After this unforgettable journey through history, you’ll be returned to your Riad to relax.
On the final day of your tour, we depart early from Fes and travel west toward Rabat, the coastal capital of Morocco. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the iconic Hassan Tower, the grand Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the scenic Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Free time for lunch near the oceanfront.
After lunch, we continue south across the highway toward Marrakech. Upon arrival in the “Red City,” we’ll explore the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the surrounding bustling souks. Your unforgettable 5-day journey concludes with a drop-off at your hotel, Riad, or the airport in Marrakech.
